You know you’re meant for more. So why do you keep stopping yourself?
Why purpose-driven women keep freezing every time it’s time to be visible.
I know what it feels like to have something inside you that wants to be shared with the world…
and then watch your own nervous system fight you every step of the way.
First, you sit down to work on your business.
You come up with a program that will take a woman through the transformation it took you years to move through.
You outline each module.
You title the videos and the pdf’s.
You write the sales page.
And it’s fire.
You feel so connected to it.
You can’t wait to change her life.
You’re smiling ear to ear, filled with joy and ready to do the Tom Cruise jumping on Oprahs couch move.
You think okay, this is it. I’m finally going to stop hiding. Tomorrow I’m going to tell the world.
When it’s time to share
Your jaw locks.
Your heart feels heavy.
Suddenly the program that felt so clear yesterday now feels questionable.
You reread your sales page 14 times.
Start tweaking the outline.
Convince yourself you need more clarity before you can move.
So instead of posting about your amazing program that you were so sure of 24 hours ago, you open another tab and start researching marketing strategies while your original idea slowly loses its energy and the love you had for it.
What’s really happening on the inside is that a part of you is saying “let’s do it!” While another part of you is slamming on the brake and yelling “hell no.”
And the war begins again.
The women I work with
are usually deeply self-aware.
You know when fear is running the show.
You can spot the overthinking and overanalyzing.
You understand that you’re talking yourself out of your own calling.
And that’s exactly what makes this so frustrating.
Because you can see the pattern while it’s happening and still feel stuck and unable to take a different step.
A big part of you knows you’re meant for more.
You just know there’s something in you that wants to be expressed and shared.
And every time you try to move toward it, your nervous system floods your body with doubt, hesitation, perfectionism, shutdown, or overwhelm.
I understand all of this
because I’ve been there.
For a long time, I thought this meant I didn’t want it bad enough and that I just needed to go harder so I bought into hustle culture…
Wake up earlier and be more disciplined.
Be more consistent.
Push harder.
Basically… hustle my way past my nervous system.
But honestly, that gets old real quick!
And I learned that purpose-driven women aren’t struggling because their not hustling hard enough.
It’s that a lot of women are trying to build a visible, meaningful life and business from a body that still associates visibility, purpose and calling with danger.
So when it’s time to actually share your work your body says:
slow down. wait. hide.
Not yet, I’m not ready.
All because your nervous system doesn’t fully trust what will happen if you’re finally seen as the purpose-driven woman you know you’re meant to become.
And after a while,
the hardest part isn’t even the business stuff.
It’s the relationship you start developing with yourself.
Because you stop trusting your own intentions.
You doubt your purpose.
You stop believing yourself when you say: “I’m really going to do it this time.”
You begin living in this soul-sucking space between: the woman you know you called to be…and the smaller version of yourself your nervous system let’s you be.
And that gap is painful, it hurts.
Especially when you know you have something real to offer people.
The goal…
What if the goal isn’t hustling, pushing, or forcing yourself into action?
What if the real work is helping your body finally feel safe enough to stay with yourself while you move toward your purpose?
Safe enough to be visible, express yourself and share life changing work.
And finally safe enough to stop abandoning yourself every time fear shows up.
Because when your body and your soul stop fighting each other, taking purposeful action becomes so much easier.
There’s still discomfort sometimes.
There’s still fear sometimes.
But you’re no longer shutting down the second those feelings show up.
And that changes everything.
Stay tuned as we continue our conversation on purpose and nervous system alignment.
much love,
Essence
