Is Your Throat Chakra Blocking Your Purpose? 5 Signs to Watch For
5 Signs Your Throat Chakra Is Blocking Your Purpose
Years before I became a coach, and even knew about chakras… I was sitting in an intuitive development group when one of the psychics looked at me and said,
“You’re supposed to be speaking and teaching.”
Her eyes dropped down and looked at my throat.
She asked if I’d been abused as a child because she could feel something was blocking me from expressing myself.
I told her no.
Then she had me do one of the most embarrassing things I’ve ever done.
She had me get down on my knees in front of the whole group.
Then beat on the padded seat of a chair while making these deep grunting sounds to start moving the energy in my throat.
I was painfully shy back then, so this felt like torture.
But I did it because I was ready to heal and change my life.
I thought nothing life changing happened that day.
But about a month later, the group organizer asked me if I was ready to teach a class and although I was super nervous, I said yes.
The next week, I taught my very first manifestation class and shared how I’d manifested some money.
Looking back, I don’t think it was just my throat that needed to open.
My body and my throat were learning that it was safe to express itself.
As an introvert and highly sensitive woman, I constantly have work with the energy of my throat chakra to keep it open and balanced.
What the heck is a throat chakra?
Chakras are energy centers in the body, along the spine and they govern physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being.
Each one is connected to different emotions, qualities, and areas of life.
For instance many people have heard of the root chakra,
Which represents safety, stability, grounding, and security. It’s your foundation and your sense of belonging.
The Throat Chakra: Represents communication, self-expression, authenticity, and speaking your truth.
5 Signs Your Throat Chakra Is Blocking Your Purpose
1. You know exactly what you want to say... until you hit record.
You say it perfectly in the car. Then you press record and your mind goes blank.
2. You’re amazing at helping people privately, but the moment it’s time to be seen, you freeze.
Your wisdom flows so naturally behind the scenes.
But when it’s time to share it publicly, something in your body says, not yet.
3. You’ve been about to post for weeks.
You know what you want to say.
But every day you find another reason to wait.
4. You know exactly what you’re here to share.
But every time you get close, something in your body pulls the brakes.
5. You lose your words when someone asks what you do.
You know your work. But somehow, when it’s time to explain it, the words disappear.
If you resonated with one or more, it’s okay many women struggle with voice and self-expression.
The women I work with already know exactly what they want to say.
Their body just doesn’t feel safe expressing it yet.
How throat chakra blocks show up in everyday life…
You struggle to say what you really think or feel.
You avoid difficult conversations.
You say “yes” when you want to say “no.”
You hesitate to share your ideas in meetings.
You avoid asking for a raise or promotion.
You have trouble setting boundaries.
You struggle to communicate your needs.
You find it difficult to be vulnerable or honest.
You feel misunderstood or disconnected
You bottle up your feelings until they spill over.
You avoid conflict to keep the peace.
One practice you can start using today to heal your throat chakra
»Start using your voice before you need your voice.
One of the best pieces of advice I ever received was to start intentionally using my voice when there wasn’t any pressure.
Hum while you’re making dinner.
Sing in the car.
Read a page of a book out loud.
Make sounds.
Let your throat remember what it feels like to be used without needing to perform, teach, or get it right.
The more your body begins to associate expression with safety instead of danger, the easier it becomes to let your voice come through.
Remember, just randomly singing in the car doesn’t count. You need to have the intention.
Example of intention: I’m going to take 5-6 minutes and sing 2 Mary J. Blige songs to help my throat feel safe expressing.
A question to sit with:
If your body felt completely safe, what would you finally say, do or express?
Much love,
Essence
P.S.
Imagine what it would feel like if speaking up didn’t feel so heavy.
If your body wasn’t constantly hitting the brakes every time you wanted to express yourself.
That’s exactly what we’ll begin exploring together inside The Sensual Self-Expression Awakening.
We'll use movement, breath, and gentle somatic practices to help your body release what's been keeping you quiet so it feels safer to…
speak up,
express yourself,
and share what's been on your heart.
BTW, when I say sensuality, I’m not talking about being sexy.
I’m talking about coming back into relationship with your body.
Gently touching your shoulders instead of criticizing them.
Rolling your hips instead of holding tension there.
Letting your body soften after years of surviving.
Dropping into your sensual feminine creates safety and openness in the body. When the body stops clenching it’s easier to release emotional blocks.
Which makes it easier for you to share your gifts, set boundaries or go after what you want.
