I hid my past for years because...
Here's what carrying that secret cost me.
I used to think nobody would take me seriously because of my past. And that thought kept me from sharing my gifts online for years.
I used to be an exotic dancer, a drinker and a wild child.
Years later in 2012 I started my healing journey. And I realized that helping other women heal is my purpose.
But in the background there was this voice saying, if they knew what you used to do, they won’t trust you. They’ll think you’re a bad person.
So I hid it. I tried to show up as this more professional, polished version of myself.
And what that actually did was keep me frozen. Because I was carrying a secret. And the weight of that secret would not let me move.
I still remember the day in 2016 when I told my spiritual friends about my past and how free I felt.
Here’s what I learned.
That was shame. And shame lives in the body. It wasn’t a mindset problem. I couldn’t just decide to feel differently about my past.
I had to actually do the work, the forgiveness work, the body work to free myself from it.
And when I did, something shifted. I started telling people I was a dancer.
And I got to this place where I could genuinely say if someone wants to judge me for what I did in my past, that’s on them.
Because here’s the truth.
Your past is what made you who you are.
You might not even be on this path of wanting to help people if you hadn’t gone through exactly what you went through.
It was all purposeful. All of it made you you.
And the work of owning that… that’s not positive thinking. That’s body and nervous system work.
It’s about freeing yourself from shame at the cellular level so you can actually show up.
That’s the deeper work.
And if you need help with that, I’m here.
Much love,
Essence
P.S.
I have a beta program that I’m launching and I’m looking for three women to take through the program.
This is for you if you know you have a message, wisdom, gifts and talents to share but your body and fear keeps you frozen and hidden.
But now you’re ready to be committed to doing the inner work it takes to put yourself out there.
If this is you reply with the word “beta” and we can talk about it a little more.
Or you can book your visibility assessement here.
