How to Feel Alive Again When You’ve Gone a Little Numb-Day 1
Just know that the journey back to aliveness doesn’t happen all at once. It happens slowly. Softly.
As we talked about yesterday…sometimes we hit these seasons where inside of us it just feels a little quieter.
Every woman goes through this at some point.
But what about those times when it’s not just the season, where the numbness, the disconnection, bitterness, resentment and not feeling as deeply, has been lingering for months or years.
Sometimes we go through things in life that kick our butts, break our hearts, and part of us goes offline.
And as I’ve witnessed this in myself and with clients over the years, I’ve started to see it as something sacred.
Because when that numbness shows up, I imagine her as this Ice Queen.
Beautiful, regal, powerful, stepping forward to protect you.
She stands between you and the world and wraps you in a thin veil of ice.
Not to punish you… but to say:
“Life has done enough.
It has hurt you enough.
It has disappointed you enough.
And I’m not letting anything else through.”
And the way you know she’s there is through these little signs in your everyday life:
You’re tired even when you slept all night.
You feel disconnected from your body, like you’re watching your life instead of living it.
You keep saying “I’m fine” or “I’m just tired,” even though something deeper feels off.
You’re irritated easily but can’t pinpoint why
You haven’t felt genuinely happy or lit up in a while.
You feel neutral… not sad, not joyful… just flat
You’re not excited about things you used to look forward to.
None of this means anything is wrong with you.
The Ice Queen means well.
Her only job is to protect you.
But the thing is… that shield of ice not only keeps out the bad feelings, it blocks the good ones too.
It blocks your joy, your peace, your aliveness, your softness...and the new possibilities that are trying to get through.
At some point, you reach this moment where you’re truly ready to melt the ice.
To step back into the driver’s seat of your life.
To feel again, even if what you feel first isn’t comfortable.
So if you’re in a season where you feel a little numb or disconnected, or like you’re just going through the motions...
I want you to know this:
Any numbness or disconnection that you may be experiencing is temporary and you can reawaken your essence (your inner light) and open your heart to feel deeply again.
Just know that the journey back to aliveness doesn’t happen all at once.
It’s not a switch you flip.
It’s more like slowly moving from your head, back into your heart.
It happens softly, gently, in the little moments where you choose to come back into your body and feel again, even for just one breath.
That’s where everything starts to shift.
That’s what this whole 5-day series is about, helping you melt the ice in a way that feels safe, grounded, and loving.
We’re doing this together.
One breath, one truth, one small awakening at a time.
Here’s your Day 1 After-Work Somatic Protocol
Sit or lie down in a way that feels comfortable.
Let your shoulders drop and your jaw soften.
Place one hand on your heart.
Place the other hand on your belly.
Breathe in through your nose.
Exhale gently out of your mouth.
Close your eyes and see that shield of ice surrounding you.
Now say to the Ice Queen
“Thank you.
You protected me when I needed it.
And now I’m ready to feel again.”
Let it be this simple.
Now imagine with every exhale that the ice is melting.
Breathe slowly for a few minutes.
Think of a funny or beautiful memory and turn that emotion up, let it expand and fill up your heart.
Then say, “This is who I am”.
And so it is.
We’ll continue activating your inner light and aliveness tomorrow with Day 2 of Reawakening Your Essence.
Rest, sip water, and be gentle with yourself tonight.
If you’re comfortable sharing…reach out.
Which of the Ice Queen signs feels most true for you right now?
Did today’s protocol bring up anything for you? Even something tiny?
I’d love to hear from.
Much love,
Essence
