Coming Home to Yourself Starts With These 2 Questions-Day 4
Because every time you ask them, you shift from: living in your head...to listening to your body
Hey Friend,
First I want to say sorry that I missed yesterday, I had to take my cat to the vet and boy was it a day…We’re both doing much better today.
Now back to Day 4…
On Day 3, we talked about how real self-love isn’t surface-level, it’s rooted in going deeper, in understanding what actually pulled you away from yourself in the first place.
And today, I want to give you two questions that have carried me through some of my heaviest seasons, the times when I felt off my path, stressed, disconnected, or repeating patterns I swore I was done with.
These two questions will always bring you home:
1. If I loved myself, what would I stop doing?
2. If I loved myself, what would I start doing?
So many of us look outside ourselves when things feel off.
We look for someone’s book, someone’s YouTube video, someone’s “5 ways to fix this,” hoping they have the missing piece.
And trust me, all of that can be SUPER helpful. I’ve learned from amazing teachers too.
But none of them live inside your body.
None of them know your exact pain and patterns.
Only your inner healer knows that.
These two questions help you tune back into her voice, the voice that’s been guiding you this whole time.
And when I first asked myself those questions years ago, it changed everything.
That’s how I got honest about the things that were pulling me away from myself… the things that were dimming my essence and keeping me stuck in the same relationship and low self-worth cycles.
And just like we talked about, that honesty is what gave me the courage to do the deeper healing work, especially around my dad, the disrespect I tolerated, and the ways I abandoned myself.
Those two questions brought me face-to-face with the truth I’d been avoiding.
They still do.
Because every time you ask them, you shift from:
• living in your head… to listening to your body
• looking for answers outside you… to trusting your own wisdom
• feeling lost… to finding the next right step
And that’s what it means to reawaken your essence.
Not a huge breakthrough.
Not a dramatic moment.
Just one honest question
one small truth
one tiny act of love
that brings you back to yourself.
That’s my whole mission with The Self-Healing School, it’s to share tips, tools and stories that help you reconnect with yourself so you can follow and trust your inner guidance.
Now it’s your turn to contemplate those questions.
Remember:
Your answers do not have to be big or life-changing.
They might be as simple as:
“If I loved myself, I’d take a 10-minute walk after work.”
That is your body speaking.
That is self-love in real time.
Day 4 After-Work Somatic Practice
1. Sit in a comfortable position.
Let your spine soften. Let your shoulders drop.
2. Set a timer for 1 minute.
Close your eyes and breathe slowly in and out.
Let your breath be your only focus.
3. Open your eyes and write the first question at the top of your page:
“If I loved myself, what would I stop doing?”
»Notice what comes up and write without judging it.
4. Set the timer for 1 minute again.
Close your eyes. Breathe slowly in and out.
5. Now write the second question:
“If I loved myself, what would I start doing?”
»Again, let whatever arises come through.
6. When you’re done, place your hand on your heart and read over your answers.
»Ask your body softly:
“Is there one small step I feel ready for today?”
If the answer is yes, write it down gently.
If the answer is no, let awareness be enough for now.
Your inner healer will guide you at the right timing.
Tomorrow, we keep going for Day 5.
We’re almost there, you’re doing beautifully.
I’d love to hear what came up for you. Feel free to reach out and share.
Much love, Essence.
